Dr Lavitha obtained her Doctor in Medicine (MD) degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2000. She then pursued her Masters in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in UKM and qualified as a specialist in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2008. She went on to get an overseas specialist qualification by passing the membership exams with the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London, and was conferred the MRCOG in 2011.
She then pursued subspeciality training in the niche field of Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecology (PAG), and completed her fellowship in 2016 at the Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Melbourne. She was the first Malaysian to obtain the International Fellowship in Paediatric Adolescent Gynaecology (IFEPAG) in the same year in Florence, Italy.
She is the 4th Paediatric & Adolescent Gynaecologist in Malaysia and was the first PAG specialist to serve in the Ministry of Health Malaysia from 2016.
